Proton Persona Test Drive Opinion

Some personal opinion regarding Proton products, in my own word, at least, if Proton Gen.2 had introduced many thought it was a mistake, because Malaysia is a sedan market so when the Persona came out many high expectations of them. But those who did not wait for the car looking for outright performance, but they wanted a sensible, spacious and comfortable ride for the family.

Proton said they listened to their customers, but reasonable, spacious and comfortable are the ingredients for a boring car. Persona is a boring car?The Proton Persona is the car that have come before the Gen.2 to be the real replacement for the Wira and judging from the popularity of the car, it seems that Proton has made the right decision to introduce a sedan.

Malaysians want to score a car that is affordable, spacious and looks great and the personnel in all three points.Obviously, the eyes are a little older, as they a five year old design, but it is still a relatively modern form.Proton has been quite successful in injecting Lotus DNA in their cars and all their products now offer a decent ride and handling, yes, I would go so far as to say that they are among the best handling cars in its price class.

The persona continues with this tradition. However, we must remember that the persona a car that is geared to the mass market and for this reason, proton can not vote in the management as too aggressive, but it's still a car to be driven hard on your favorite winding roads .The only complaint I have is the wooden steering wheel. The feedback is not as intimate as I want but there is sufficient communication between the tire and the driver make sure that you know, what does the car.

The handle limit the persona is not very high, although the chart shows spider web of ride and handling that is the lateral grip level comparable with the best cars in the class. Of course, manufacturers can tune their cars to achieve higher cornering numbers, but this may come at the expense of predictability. Cars with very high cornering give way rather suddenly, and this may be to catch handful for the average driver.

More important than just handle the predictability and that is is what Proton's engineers have focused on. If the car hard into a corner feed, it will tell you in advance if the back is Losing Grip and the early warning system helps drivers keep a cool head and an early response.

The persona also has decent handling characteristics, it strikes a good balance between body and suspension to control smoothness. This is easily demonstrated when the car drives over Speedbumps or hilly terrain without crashing on its bump stops.
Secondary navigation is also impressive, as it absorbs minor road imperfections without shaking the passengers too much. Proton also has a good job of isolating road noise and done out of the cabin, this helps to further strengthen the feeling of stiffness and rigidity of the chassis. These measurements are of course relative, but I think the personality of the ride and handling characteristics of a European car in the 1990s as a Japanese model from the same period.

In fact, if I see a Honda City or Toyota Vios on a winding road, the persona is the perfect foil for a game of the day was going to be with them. In fact I would venture to say that I prefer the personality sure-footed suspension of the other two, which are softer.

If the persona lost in the city or Vios it were, except for the lack of power. The iAFM module may have improved the torque in the midrange distributed, but the engine simply does not produce enough current to drive it an exciting. You have to really play with the money and leave the suffer fuel consumption, if you want to smile on your favorite roads.

The persona is not really an exciting car but it is possible to prevent boring coordinated by a hair, thanks to the Lotus chassis, but do not think even a child that there is some kind of BMW Club or Civic chase itself. It would not leave Perodua in dealing with operations and may make entry-Japanese sedans set in its place, but that's experience.I think that is expected more than what the average customer.

Comfort is an important factor in choosing a family car and a lot of it is determined by the dimensions of the chamber such as leg, knee, head and shoulder room. The Gen.2 came under heavy fire for the lack of headroom for rear passengers, and this problem has increased in the revised roof line and raised a few millimeters wide free space. In terms of overall cabin space, it can be five average-sized adult Malaysian without much complaint fit while on really long trips it is best if you travel to four instead of five.

The cabin design has been thoroughly revised, although most of the effort concentrated on the door panel design and materials. The door panels are now less dramatic look with traditional handles and cloth upholstery, the car but more mature age to help better.I used to hate the cushion on the Gen.2, because it reminds me of cheap nylon trousers as great to see that the persona has ditched it in favor of a more conventional weave.

Sorry, could not afford the company was not re-design and engineer a new instrument panel that would cost too many millions and the weak sales Gen.2 means that the original design still pay for itself. My pet peeve is the fiddly radio controls in the center console, in fact I really hate the round screen and tiny buttons. It reminds me too much of crop circles or the control of aliens mothership in a really cheap science fiction.I really hope that is strong personal sales they make more money on the dashboard soon again.

Malaysians like to travel in large groups, as they pack as many people as possible into the car and that means the robot must be large enough to swallow all your luggage. The Persona high boot line and creates a large cargo area, and it should be enough for four people's weekend without baggage problems.

The personality is not the best family sedan you can buy but that is a factor of price and what people are willing to pay for a proton. I believe that the company is already the possibility of a car that can impress the global market, but their brand strength is still very low and this prevents them from packing a lot of luxury in their models and charging a premium design.

Fortunately, she did not want stopped by the assembly of the high line models with two airbags and ABS brakes. Well, if it were me, the car should have airbags and side curtain bag, but it can be a bit too expensive. We Malaysians are not too many are willing to pay extra for safety features, we?

On a scale of 1 to 10, the persona a strong six, but when you factor in the price that credit rating one level rises to seven. Provide a better quality inside and I can even talk about him a 7.2.If Proton can with a 1.8 version ten for this car would be a great little number.
